Antipode

short film / 1:09 / 2021

The video presents a visual experience that invites the viewer to explore the boundaries of their own consciousness.
Through the use of mirrors and reflections, the artwork creates a new imagery, inviting the audience to contemplate the alternative logical and perceptual paths that the mind can undertake when in altered states of consciousness.

The mirrored cube at the center of the artwork becomes a portal to the Antipode, the metaphorical place of the furthest geographical zone of the Self, where the mind self-reflects and experiences itself in an unexplored manner. The presence of the black square, standing in contrast to the surrounding bucolic environment, becomes a point of escape for the imagination, opening the way to new possibilities of perception and knowledge. The artwork presents itself as a reflection on the nature of consciousness and its ability to create alternative realities and experience one’s self in an unexplored way.

It is a meditation on the boundary between reality and illusion, between the external world and the inner world, inviting the viewer to explore their deepest self and discover new paths of perception and understanding.
